We have 14 young men in various stages of formation. Eleven of these are busy with their philosophical or theological studies. We refer to them as our students. Nine of them are in temporary vows and two are finally professed. Then there are two novices in the novitiate in Aquinas Priory in Mondeor who are presently completing their novitiate with three brothers from East Africa. These three brothers will return to Kenya in January while the two others will continue their studies in Pietermaritzburg. There will be no novitiate in 2016.
So what we have here are 14 future preachers. That is a large number when you consider that there are only 21senior brothers and four of these are retired or semi-retired. That means we have only 19 active brothers in our province or vicariate. We take heart from the fact that there are 14 more in the pipeline.
